Some appointments are available to book without needing to speak to a receptionist – useful if the surgery is closed. They can be booked via this website https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com or by phoning the Surgery on 01790 728111).
Our Care Navigators (formerly, receptionists) will offer you the first available routine appointment with a GP, Nurse Consultant, practice nurse or health care assistant. This is usually some days hence, and may be longer if you wish to see a particular GP or nurse. If you believe you need to speak with a nurse or doctor sooner than the first available routine appointment, the Care Navigator will pass your details to our duty GP or Nurse Consultant, who will usually contact you to discuss the matter further.
When booking an appointment, please ask to be signed up to our free text messaging service, to confirm and remind you of your upcoming appointment. Our text messaging service has reduced missed appointments by approximately one third, but far too many surgery appointments remain wasted. If you don’t intend to keep a booked appointment, please phone or email us in good time, in order that another patient can make use of it.
Appointments with our GPs and advanced nurse practitioner are 10 minutes long. Unlike a few other GP practices, we don’t insist on ‘one appointment, one problem’. We do however request that you are mindful of your appointment length out of consideration to the patients kept waiting if you over-run. The statement ‘I’ve waited weeks to see you so …’ applies as much to them as it does to you. Please organise what you want to discuss. Begin with the most important problem. If we can’t cover everything in a single visit, then less urgent matters can safely be left to a second appointment to give them the airing they deserve.
