Telephone consultations play an increasing role in GP and nurse care. They aren’t suitable for a lot of medical problems, but are safe, convenient for patients and clinicians, and an effective use of time when used correctly.
Spilsby Surgery uses telephone consultations as part of same-day care by our duty doctor or nurse, and for agreed follow-up consultations for some patients. Many of our staff work (full-time) over less than 5 days a week, so it may be a few days before they can return a routine call.
Ease of telephone access causes its own problems – the more phone calls we deal with, the less time we have for each caller! Please don’t ask for a phone call from your usual nurse or GP to discuss a new problem – our care navigators will direct you to a routine appointment or to duty clinician triage.
