Winter is a very busy time for the NHS, and Spilsby Surgery is delighted that we will be working together with Lincolnshire Cooperative Pharmacy in Spilsby for the benefit of our patients.
From 1 December, the pharmacist Steve Reeson and his team will be operating a Minor Ailments Scheme, offering free assessment and advice for the following problems
Allergic rhinitis (runny nose), athlete’s foot, infective conjunctivitis, cold sores, constipation, cystitis, dermatitis, diarrhoea, earache and minor outer ear infections, minor headache, flu-like symptoms (coughs, colds and fevers), new indigestion and reflux, insect bites and stings, mouth ulcers, nappy rash, scabies, sore throat, teething, threadworm, vaginal thrush, verrucae and warts
Patients who are exempt from prescription charges can then receive medication free of charge, if clinically indicated, during pharmacy opening hours.
The Surgery has agreed that most patients who contact the Surgery with these symptoms will be asked by our receptionists to contact the Pharmacy. This will ensure our duty nurse or GP can help patients with complex and more serious conditions. Please help the Pharmacy and Surgery make a success of the service for the benefit of all patients.
Self-care advice for minor illness is also available from NHS111.
