In June 2016 Spilsby Surgery asked Public Health Lincolnshire (PHL) to review working arrangements between the new Quit 51 Stop Smoking Service and General Practice to make it cheaper for the tax-payer and safer for patients. Four months later we believe PHL has made some limited progress.

Spilsby patients will be the first in the county to receive free nicotine replacement products recommended by Quit 51 without the need for a prescription. The Surgery encourages PHL to extend this improvement countywide.

However, in October 2016 the practice took the decision not to issue prescriptions for Zyban or Champix on behalf of Quit 51. We regret the inconvenience this may cause to our patients, but trust that PHL will work to quickly resolve the important issues that we brought to its attention.
