Doctors
Dr James Howarth (Male) MB BChir (Cambridge) 1997 MRCGP
Senior GP Partner

Dr Howarth was born and brought up in Yorkshire. He studied medicine in Cambridge and London and ended up as a junior doctor at Lincoln County where he met his future wife. In 2005 he became a GP and spent 8 happy years on the coast at Mablethorpe before he joined Spilsby Surgery.
He is happily married with two children who he thinks are lovely, but then he would. He has a couple of dogs which need a lot of walking. In whatever spare time is left he likes watching films and live bands no-one has heard of. He works at Spilsby on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and is a GP Clinical Lead for the East of the county at NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
Dr Vongai Shuro (Female) MRCGP MBBS (London) BSc Medical law and ethics (London)
GP Partner

Dr Shuro went to medical school in London and moved to the East Midlands for her GP training in 2016. She is happily married and has two handsome sons and twin daughters who love animals and farm visits. In her spare time, she loves cooking, singing, writing and playing basketball, tourism and travelling.
Dr Shuro has a special interest in medical law and ethics as well as holistic and mental health. She is publicity and social media lead for the First5 Lincolnshire GP group. She is looking forward to engaging with and improving the health of our communities at large when she returns from a period of leave in April 2025.
Dr Stephen Savory (Male) MB BS (London) 1991 MRCGP 1995
Associate GP

Dr Savory trained as a GP at Lincoln, and has lived locally for 28 years, working at Boston, Swineshead, and from 2010 at Spilsby. He retired from the GP partnership in 2024 and looks forward to several more years serving the community here as a salaried GP.
He is a trainer for doctors wishing to specialise in General Practice, and tutor to medical students from the University of Lincoln. He is the Chair of the Lincolnshire Local Medical Committee, which represents the county’s GP practices and their patients. He is usually available at Spilsby on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Dr Afshan Syed (Female) MB BS (Liaquat) 2007 MRCGP (2018)
Associate GP

Dr Syed is at Spilsby Surgery 2 or 3 days a week. She also works for LIVES (Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service) Community Emergency Medical Service, and as a Medical Examiner reviewing non-coronial deaths in hospitals and the community.
Dr Lai Sit (Female) MB BS BSc (London) 2013 MRCGP
Associate GP

Dr Sit was born and raised in London. She studied Medicine at King’s College London and completed her early medical training and a BSc in Medical Genetics in London and Kent before relocating to Lincolnshire to be closer to her family. She qualified as a GP in 2018 and joined Spilsby Surgery in 2020.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children.
She is usually at the Surgery on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dr Paul Wright (Male) MB ChB (Leicester) 1994 MRCGP (2001)
Associate GP

After graduating, Dr Wright held a post on a medical rotation in Derby, before completing his GP training in 2001 in Peterborough. Paul joined a fenland GP practice in Cambridgeshire as a salaried GP. With his medical experience, he managed patients with chronic disease and complex medical conditions. He progressed to become a GP partner and continued working at the same practice until 2024. He has now joined the Surgery as an Associate GP working every day except Wednesdays. He has a specialist interest in inflammatory conditions and chronic disease management.
Paul lives in Cambridgeshire with his wife, daughter, and 2 cats. He has an interest in classic cars, travel and undertaking archery with his family.
Dr Faranza Mahmood (Female) MB BS (Punjab) 1994 MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH (all 2011)
Associate GP

Dr Mahmood has lived in the UK since 1998, and has worked as a GP in Skegness, Boston, and in local Urgent Treatment Centres, where she supervises GP Registrars. She has a specialist interest in dermatology. She undertakes annual appraisals of GPs in the East Midlands region.
Dr Maria Adeel (Female) MBBS, MRCGP (2019) DFSRH (2019)
Associate GP

Dr Adeel has lived and worked in Lincolnshire for 15 years, and qualified as a GP in 2019 in Boston. She has a special interest in contraception and reproductive health and also works as a GP at a local Urgent Treatment Centre.
When she’s not working, you’ll find her travelling or enjoying time with her family.
Nursing Staff
Andrea Longstaff RGN - Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Andrea is qualified at Masters Level as Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Her working week and caseload is very similar to her doctor colleagues. She works in our Duty Clinician rota, and leads weekly visits to our three local care homes. Andrea can prescribe, request investigations and initiate referrals. Andrea is accredited to fit intrauterine and implant contraceptives.

Mrs Georgina Green RGN
George is a trained nurse who works part-time to plan the joined-up social, health and voluntary care of patients with complex health or social care needs where they lack existing community nursing or social work support. George is contactable via our Reception team, and will consider self-referrals or contacts from the family or acquaintances of our patients. She normally works on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
